GENERAL MEETING NOTES - 14Sept2015

Welcome back to Quilt Guild!

1. New Executive
Each gave stories of how they started their quilting careers.

2.  Old Business 
New Location
Our new meeting location is at the Tanner Seniors' Centre in the large room.

A huge thank you goes out to Alice Sheen for all her work securing our new location.

New Time
10:00AM

Fees
Guild Membership remains at $30.00/year.  

In addition, each Guild member (55 yrs and over) is required to pay the Seniors' Centre Membership of $10.00 unless they are already a Seniors' Centre Member.

This $10.00 fee should be submitted to the Guild for the Guild's year or you can still join the Seniors' group separately.  This membership to the Seniors' Centre should be paid to the Seniors' organization.

Sew Days
Our new location has secured us a sew day, beginning directly after the guild meeting, each month!

There will be a project for each Sew Day.  These projects are completely optional.  Feel free to bring your own projects to work on.

3.  New Business
All the decorations were prizes and gifts to hand out.

Birthday Girls
This year our birthdays will be celebrated by receiving a small gift. 
 
The ladies below celebrated their birthdays in August and September.  A price for receiving their gifts was a story of when & how each member began quilting.

4.  Notes & This Year's Challenge
a.  Sign up sheets for Demos, Tips, & Techniques and Sew Day volunteers was passed around the group. 

Very few names were added.  The executive encourages people to participate.  Volunteers are not required to be experienced quilters and there are many people you can ask for guidance.

b.  To encourage people to practice the techniques and demos shown each meeting it was put forward that a quilt will be made adding all the blocks demonstrated at each of the 10 guild meetings.  This will be our member Challenge.

c.  Guild members were asked if they would like to create projects for donation.  There was an excellent response.  Donation projects decided on were 36"x36" lap quilts & Christmas stockings.  Organizations to donate these quilts
to will be provided by next month's Guild Meeting.  Some organizations put forward as groups that might need donations were Women's Shelters, Hospitals, Extended Care homes.  Christmas Stockings were previously made and given to some of the First Nations children in need.

d.  A contact list will be made available to members at next month's meeting.

e.  Winners of two additional prizes were...
Barb Sheen, for being the first to pay for her Guild Membership.  She won a pattern for a 3D Quilt.

Ruby Quinton for being the first to arrive at today's Guild Meeting.  She won some fabric.

5.  Upcoming Events

Program     This year's program features quilter and designer, Julie Dess, a previous owner of a quilt shop and now is the manager of the Bernina shop in Helena. She is a very talented woman in all fields of Quilting.
     Please have one member of your Guild prepared to give a short report about some of your guilds activities during the past year. This exchange is a valuable source of program and project ideas for all of the attending guilds.
     Our Show and Tell program is what sets our party apart from the " normal " quilt shows. We invite each of our guests to bring a quilt of their own to show and tell us it's story. This is always the highlight of the party.

6.   Important Announcements
Due to Thanksgiving covering the 2nd Monday of the month, next month's Guild meeting will be on the 1st Monday of October.
