GENERAL MEETING NOTES, 05 Oct 2015

Old Business

1.  Meeting Minutes
     a.  Reading of minutes from October meeting by Gail Purnell.

2.  Welcome Back Gift
     a.  Helen Wilde, Gail Erickson & Sue Litchfield were presented with their Welcome Back Gift that they missed last month.

3.  The Demo & Tip Sign-Up Sheets
     a.  The Demo & Tip sign-up sheet was passed around again to get more names.

New Business

1.  Birthday Girl for October
     Helen Wilde!  She told of how she got into quilting.  She's been quilting for 5 years after a false start 2 years before.

2.  Sisters Quilt Tour
      LaRae provided the group with details on the 7 day tour.  She and Donna had taken the tour in the summer and enjoyed themselves immensely.
      Here are a few of the places they stopped:  Spokane -- air-plane hanger-sized quilt store; Cannon, Oregon -- small quilt store carrying unique fabrics; Tillamok Cheese Factory; Latimer Textile Factory -- climate controlled building for donated quilts;  Sisters -- Quilts in the Park had supper and talk by Alex Anderson, there is a great quilt shop there.
     The tour bus will pick you up at Fort MacLoed.  Tour dates are July 05 to July 11th, 2016.  Prices are $1,095-Double, $995-Triple.

This tour books up quickly.  Book Now.

3.  December Guild Meeting Date Change
     Change of date for December Guild Meeting to Tuesday December 8th -- 10:00AM.

4.  Seniors Christmas Supper
     Guild Meeting date change is to accommodate the Seniors Christmas Supper which is at noon on the 7th at the Civic Centre.  Members of the Guild are welcome to attend this event.

5.  November Charity Sew Day 
    
     a.  Wheelchair Quilts for Seniors.  We have 12 people at the Auxiliary and approximately 48 residents at LeeCrest.  That totals 60 wheelchair quilts required.  We have 32 members in the Guild so we require 2 quilts per member.
    
     b.  The quilt should be 42" long and 36" wide with a 7-8" triangle removed from both bottom edges.
    
     c.  Linda Scott suggested we search on-line for Tickle Quilts for ideas for pockets and different textures provided for interest.
    
     d.  Dawn will figure out a pattern for the Quilt and post the pattern on the blog and e-mail the pattern to members as well.  She will provide quilt labels for everyone.
    
     e.  The wheelchair quilts should be made in flannel/flannelette/fleece. 
    
     f.  Heidi told us about discount flannel at Fox Mercantile.  They also have light batting for $11.00/m.
    
     g.  Imagination Unlimited has these fabrics at our Guild Discount.
    
     h.  Barb offered to bring strips of batting for our use.
      
6.  December Meeting...
     will not include the Sew Day portion.
