SHOW & SHINE -- 11 May 2015

We had a wide range of projects shown this month.  There were 10 quilters showing 27 quilting projects!  What a haul.

1.  Ruby Quinton
     a.  Mexican Flower Applique Quilt. Front, back & close-up. Ruby has been very busy this month with three full-size quilts completed as well as 2 small projects!  I believe this quilt was hand-quilted.
     b. & c.  Hexagon Table Toppers  She made 2 on Sew Day. It is in browns directly under the 'Sew Day Fun' sign.  She used brown rick rack for the edge.
     d.  Black, white & red quilt. Front and back.  Hand quilted.
       e.  Pink, White and Green Floral Bed Quilt.  Front and close-up. Hand quilted.
2.  Barb Sheen
     a.  Vintage Square Crib Quilt (dark on light).  Quilt front and close-up.  All the pieces stitched onto the background are pinked by hand.

     b.  Vintage Square Crib Quilt light on dark.  Quilt front, close-up & back.

     c.  Vintage Circle Crib Quilt.  Quilt front and close-up.
     c.  Paper pieced Feathered Star in batiks.  Heidi Sharp (l) and Christy Stewart (r) are holding Barb Sheen's quilt.  Christy said that this was as close as she was going to get to a quilt this difficult.   Barb told us that she's already started on another paper pieced quilt.  I can't wait till she brings that quilt for Show & Shine!
3.  Sylvia Terry
     a.  Hexagon Flower Quilt.  This is raw edge applique.  It was blanket stitched by hand by Sylvia.
     b.  Friendship Applique Quilt designed by Sylvia (l).  Each "person" is unique. Heidi Sharp (r) assisting.  Almost all of her quilts contain embroidery.
     c.  Twist & Turn Appliqued Quilt designed by Sylvia.  The pattern for this has been provided by Sylvia for posting on the blog.  See separate posting. Search for Twist & Turn Quilt.
       d.  Small applique wall hanging.  Quilt front and close-up. I believe this quilt is a designed and constructed by Sylvia.

4.  Dawn Collins
     a.  Applique Wall Hanging called "Catch & Release".  Front and close-up.  This is incomplete at the moment but will not be available for viewing once complete.  It is heading to her father for his 88th Birthday.

     b.  Hexagon Table Topper made on Sew Day.  Dawn's hexagon was made with upholstery fabric.  Of the three, Dawn's is the top right hexagon in gold, red, green, blue and tan.
5.  Betty Trudeau
     a.  Hexagon Table Topper made on Sew Day.  Betty didn't have enough repeats on her fabric to do all 6 pieces the same so she did 3 and 3 and alternated these pieces.  This turned out very nicely.  Betty's hexagon is the bottom right.  Betty used rick rack around the edge of her hexagon.
     b.  Mother's Day Applique Fancy Boot Wall Hanging  This wall hanging was designed by Betty.  I think she is making one for every month.
6.  Raeola Baker
     a.  Hexagon Table Topper made on Sew Day.  Raeola put extra large rick rack on the edges of her hexagon.
7.  Alice Sheen
     a.  Hexagon Table Topper made on Sew Day.  It is identical to Raeola's.  The only difference was Alice hadn't quite finished hers.  It will likely be done within a day or two.  Alice's hexagon is the bottom right.
8.  Donna Prince
     a.  Hexagon Table Topper made on Sew Day.  Donna's hexagon is the top left, made with Santas, snowmen & reindeer.
9.  Sheila Kimberley
     a. to e.  Hexagon Table Toppers  Sheila made quite a few of these as examples for us to see at the sew day but then she made a few more for the meeting.  These are on the table in front of her.
     b.  Applique Bunny Crib Quilt  It's strange how many applique projects were shown this month just when we had an applique demonstration.
10.  Heidi Sharp
       a.  Crib Quilt with the backing wrapping to front making the border and binding.  The recipients name is embroidered onto the quilt -- Gideon.

Keep on Quilting ...
